About me
Kalen Smith (b.2001) is an award-winning Canadian composer and harpist. His compositions combine his experience as a performer on harp, tonal music structures, contemporary techniques from his academic studies, and effects from electronic music. The result is a musical style akin to an eclectic collage, where musical meaning is created through the juxtaposition of extremes. His recent awards include the 8th USAIHC Ruth Inglefield Composition Prize (2024) and a national SOCAN Foundation Electroacoustic Prize (2024).
