About me
Ashley John Long is a virtuoso double bassist and composer active in a diverse range of musical idioms. His work as a soloist includes premieres of numerous new works for solo bass. He participated in the 2018-2019 London Philharmonic Orchestra young composers scheme culminating in the orchestral work Lunea. Ashley holds the Bachelor of Music degree from the RWCMD and the PhD from Cardiff University, where his research focused on contemporary performance practice and composition. He lectures in musicology, performance, and composition at Cardiff.
