About me
One of Canada's most sought-after composers, and recipient of the
prestigious 2025 Johanna Metcalf Performing Arts Prize, Kevin Lau’s
music has been described as “brilliantly idiomatic” (New York Times) and
“masterful” (Classical Music Sentinel). He has been commissioned by
prominent ensembles across Canada, and his work has been performed
internationally in the USA, Denmark, Italy, France, Germany, Austria,
Hong Kong, and Korea. In 2026, his ballet Kimiko’s Pearl received the
JUNO award for Best Classical Album (Small Ensemble).
