About me
The Evergreen Club Contemporary Gamelan was founded in 1987 and is Canada’s first and longest-running gamelan ensemble. The ECCG commissions, premieres, tours, and records music for the bronze gongs and bamboo flutes of the West-Javanese gamelan degung. The ECGG has recorded twelve studio albums featuring works by John Cage, Lou Harrison, Iwan Gunawan, and Ana Sokolovic, and soundtrack credits including The Life of Pi. ECCG’s oeuvre foregrounds and contributes to gamelan as a living Indonesian tradition with global significance.
